Before your first class:
Some students do much better in their first class if the have had a chance to visit and observe a class without the pressure of trying something new in a new environment. Our school is bright and happy ninjas are loud ninjas - it might be a sensory overwhelming environment for some. We would be happy to have you visit a class and observe. We do ask that you respect the training environment by viewing quietly and silencing your phones. If a child can watch most of a class with interest - and not stop talking about it when they get home - they probably really want to be a ninja. Go ahead and book that free trial class.
Have you trained in Taekwondo or another martial art before? How recently? If it's been a long while since you've trained - or in a different style - the beginner class might be the ideal place to safely recondition and stretch your body. Go ahead and book one of these classes. If we feel you are too advanced for a beginner class we'll let you know after we analyze your movement.
If you have just moved to town and are looking to jump right into training before you lose your Taekwondo conditioning - please visit or email us. kick@reevesmartialartsandfitness.com We may wish to evaluate your current skill level so we can recommend the best class for you. We have experience in multiple styles of Taekwondo and decades of experience helping transfer students acclimate to our curriculum. You will not be asked to give up your rank or start over.
What to expect during your first class:
Please wear something appropriate to kick and workout in - such as sweats. We workout barefoot for safety.
Please arrive 5-10 minutes early.
Children will need a legal guardian present to sign the participation info. Guardians must stay for the duration of the child's first class.
You will receive a welcome packet with schedule and membership info, and the beginner curriculum when you arrive.
Audience members are asked to respect the learning environment by observing quietly. Please keep younger children seated with you, or coloring at the table, or reading. Electronic devices should be silenced.
Class starts and ends with a bow in to show respect and remind students to practice our core values and strive to make good behavior stronger.
Our core tenets of Taekwondo are Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self-Control, and Indomitable Spirit.
Our class starts with a warm-up to safely prepare student's bodies for today's lesson. Students who arrive after the warm-up will not be admitted to class as it would be unsafe for them to jump into exercises their bodies were not prepared for.
Students should ask to permission to leave the training floor only if they need to use the restroom or are ill.
We do take scheduled water breaks. If you forget your water bottle - we do have water available to purchase.
Class will last 45 minutes.
After class is when it is appropriate to ask any questions about the class, workout recovery care, and continuing training.
You will not be asked to sign-up for a membership or pay any money during your first class. We prefer families have a chance to discuss their experience, schedules, and level of interest before they commit to training.
I enjoyed my first class and want to continue! Now what? We recommend you take advantage of our Trial Pack and get 7 more classes for $35. No uniform or additional purchases necessary to enjoy the trial pack. They are limited to first time students of Reeves Martial Arts and limited to one use per person.
