About Reeves Martial Arts & Fitness

Our Mission

At Reeves Martial Arts & Fitness our mission is simple. We strive to help our students become stronger physically, mentally, and emotionally. In other words we want to empower our students to achieve their goals and live a life that makes them proud of themselves. Life saving self-defense skills and physical grace are the result of training in TaeKwonDo at Reeves Martial Arts & Fitness, but they are on our secondary tier of goals - after helping students become stronger and more resilient in the face of life's many challenges.

The TaeKwonDo We Practice

We practice a diversity of TaeKwonDo styles to give our students the best possible, well rounded development. Transferring TaeKwonDo students will recognize curriculum from the Kukkiwon (South Korean governing body of TaeKwonDo), World TaeKwonDo (WT), the World TaeKwonDo ChangMooKwan, and the International TaeKwonDo Federation (ITF).

Meet the TaeKwonDo Master

Kristi Reeves has been priveleged to train with many great instructors; each one of whom has taught her many valuable skills and lessons that she uses to this day. Master Reeves began her TaeKwonDo training in 1993 in Citrus Heights with Senior Master Wade Vierra of the International TaeKwonDo Council. Later she trained with Mr. Harold Lucky of Grass Valley and Mr. Shawn Summers of Vacaville. Master Reeves is a life long student who continues to train in TaeKwonDo and Serrada in order to expand and improve her martial arts skills and teaching abilities. She earned her 5th degree Black Belt from Grand Master Clint Robinson, founder of the United World TaeKwonDo Association, in 2012. Master Reeves earned 6th degree Black Belt and Master Instructor Certification from Grand Master Martin Marcus and the World TaeKwonDo Chang Moo Kwan in 2021.

A young Ms. Reeves won a double national championship in forms and in sparring in 1997. After completeing extensive instructor training and a 300 hour internship, Master Reeves earned her TaeKwonDo teaching certification in 1998. She was a Chief of Tournaments, coordinating and running tournaments and judging education and certification in Northern California and Nevada for the International TaeKwonDo Council from 1999-2001.

Over the years Master Reeves has competed in many dozens of tournaments in forms, sparring, and breaking. Since begining her instructor training Master Reeves has taught continuously at various TaeKwonDo schools in Grass Valley, Auburn, Roseville, and Vacaville. Her favorite success stories to tell though, are the ones her students have achieved.

It has been her greatest privelege and joy over the years to help students bloom and achieve their goals through the art of TaeKwonDo. Many of Master Reeves's students have themselves gone on to become National Champions and TaeKwonDo instructors. Many, many more students are happily successful in their lives and sight training in TaeKwonDo as essential in shaping the strong people they've become. TaeKwonDo instructors get the opportunity to train and guide students over years and decades. Students stay so long, even after they've achieved black belt, precisely because of the positive benefits they've found in their lives and the wonderful family they've discovered in their TaeKwonDo instructors, peers, and students. Master Reeves plans on sharing the many benefits of TaeKwonDo for at least a couple more decades and hundreds more students.
